OpenAI’s $110B Power-Up: SoftBank, Nvidia & Amazon Fuel a $730B AI Rocket

OpenAI has just secured a fresh $110 billion funding round, propelling its pre-money valuation to a mind-bending $730 billion. The capital injection comes from a trio of tech titans: SoftBank and Nvidia are each throwing $30 billion into the pot, while Amazon is dropping a cool $50 billion and locking in a multi-year strategic partnership, essentially turning AWS into an AI booster rocket.

The San Francisco-based lab plans to deploy this gargantuan war-chest to scale compute capacity, expand global product distribution, and commercialize its next-generation AI systems, all in a frantic bid to keep pace with insatiable demand. For context, ChatGPT now flaunts over 900 million weekly active users and has somehow convinced more than 50 million consumers to actually pay for a subscription—a feat that would make most crypto projects weep with envy.

On the enterprise front, the platform now serves over nine million paying corporate customers who rely on it for daily operations. Its coding companion, Codex, has seen its weekly user base triple since January, now reaching 1.6 million, proving that even developers are happy to outsource their thinking when the model is good enough.

The deepened partnership with Nvidia grants OpenAI access to a dedicated 3 GW of inference capacity and 2 GW of training power via the new Vera Rubin chips. This builds on existing Hopper and Blackwell deployments scattered across Microsoft, Oracle Cloud, and CoreWeave infrastructure, because when you're building a digital god, you need a truly distributed altar.

This astronomical new valuation boosts the OpenAI Foundation's stake in the corporate entity to over $180 billion, significantly padding its wallet for funding philanthropic initiatives in health research and AI safety. Notably, by September 2025, OpenAI had already inked a $300 billion infrastructure deal with Oracle and acquired analytics firm Statsig for $1.1 billion—because what's a few billion between friends when you're playing with monopoly money?

Industry analysts are now projecting that total AI compute spending could soar past $450 billion between 2024 and 2030, a figure so large it almost makes the crypto market cap look like a respectable side hustle. Almost.
