Pump.fun's "Embrace, Extend, and Probably Drain" Update: Now Trading Rival Tokens & Real Assets

Solana's premier degen factory, Pump.fun, has apparently adopted a new philosophy: if you can't rug your competitors, list their tokens. In a masterstroke of "co-opetition," the platform now lets users trade tokens birthed from rival Solana launchpads like Raydium and Meteora directly inside its mobile app—because why let a little competition get in the way of collecting fees?

The team posted on X, claiming users demanded the ability to "trade & hold more without having to leave the app." This is framed as a step toward a one-stop-shop for "dominating onchain," which in this context likely means dominating your portfolio's journey to zero with maximum convenience.

But the generosity doesn't stop at welcoming the neighborhood's sketchy token kids. Pump.fun is also rolling out the red carpet for major bridged assets like Wrapped Bitcoin and Wrapped Ethereum via Wormhole, alongside established Solana mainstays like Gigachad (GIGA) and PENGU. Nothing says "serious trading platform" like having WBTC next to a token named after an ironic frog, right?

This expansion is just the latest chapter in the platform's lifecycle saga. It follows the existing "graduation" system, where tokens are booted off Pump.fun via a bonding curve after hitting a certain market cap. These graduates were initially sent to Raydium, before Pump.fun got jealous and built its own in-house DEX, Pump Swap, last year.

Raydium, not content to be just a graduation venue, fired back by launching its own competing token generator. Not to be outdone in the corporate theater, Pump.fun conducted an ICO for its native PUMP token in July at a cool $4 billion valuation. The team then promptly initiated a token buyback program, using platform revenue to reduce the circulating supply—a classic move to give the chart a facelift while the fundamentals catch up, or don't.
