Washington Proposes One‑Month Hard Fork: Harg Island as the Next Block to Unblock Hormuz

Sources close to the White House say the U.S. is pulling extra military levers to get Middle‑East energy flowing again. The newest draft on the table is an occupation or blockade of Iran’s Harg Island – a pivotal oil export hub – that could be wielded as bargaining power to pry open the Strait of Hormuz, much like a DAO voting on a hard fork to resolve a stuck protocol.

A senior official told Axios the plan could involve roughly a month‑long operation to weaken Tehran, followed by a capture of Harg Island to tip negotiations in Washington’s favor. No final call has been made yet, echoing the uncertainty of a testnet run before a mainnet launch.

Meanwhile, three Marine Corps units – over 7,500 troops in total – are en route to the Persian Gulf, a movement interpreted as a concrete step toward those military options, akin to a convoy of validators marching to a new shard.

The same official added that seizing Harg Island would be considered only if it proved necessary to reopen the strait, essentially “only if the gas fees of the Hormuz corridor get too high.”
