NYSE Goes Full Degen, Taps Securitize to Put the Trading Floor On-Chain

The New York Stock Exchange is finally swapping its paper certificates for cryptographic ones, officially naming Securitize as the first digital transfer agent for its upcoming tokenized securities platform. It seems even the most venerable of financial dinosaurs is learning to code.

In this pivotal role, Securitize will be the official issuer and manager of blockchain-based versions of stocks and ETFs, serving as a foundational pillar for Intercontinental Exchange's grander Digital Trading Platform ambitions. Think of them as the new mint for Wall Street's digital collectibles.

This partnership will be tasked with writing the operational and regulatory rulebook for tokenized securities—covering everything from issuance standards to tracking and transfer protocols. The promised perks? 24/7 trading access, near-instant settlement, and an infrastructure that doesn't rely on tech from the dial-up era. It's about time finance caught up with the speed of a memecoin pump.

The platform will support both tokenized mirrors of existing equities and fully digital-native securities. Crucially, however, traditional shareholder rights and dividend structures will remain intact. So you'll get your digital stock, but the corporate voting process will likely still be as exciting as watching paint dry.

Securitize founder and CEO Carlos Domingo stated he is "very proud and humbled to have been chosen by @nyse for this role …because the numbers definitely support the development." A humble brag backed by on-chain data is the most crypto-native flex of all.

According to data from rwa.xyz, the total value of tokenized stocks is creeping toward the psychological milestone of $1 billion, marking a 19% increase over the last 30 days. Monthly transfer volume has ballooned to $2.5 billion—a 45% surge—with active addresses surpassing 75,000 and holders nearing 193,000. That's a lot of people deciding traditional finance could use a software upgrade.

The metrics paint a picture of a clear inflection point since early 2025, driven by an ever-expanding menu of tokenized assets. It appears the real-world asset narrative is finally getting real, and even the big players are now forced to pay attention.
