Solana Gobbles 44% of All Blockchain Snacks, But $SOL Price Still a Bit Stale

By our Markets Desk2 min read

Solana co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko is probably doing his best Cheshire Cat impression after a fresh on-chain stat revealed that between March 16 and 22, 2026, a whopping 44% of all global blockchain transactions chose Solana as their home. The chain processed 825,729,338 out of a total 1,867,616,231 moves, which is the kind of market share that would make even Visa blush, if it understood blockspace.

"That's a big one," Yakovenko wrote, in what might be the understatement of the cycle, casually highlighting the network's design that can churn through thousands of transactions per second while making Ethereum gas fees look like a luxury surcharge. It's the blockchain equivalent of winning the hot dog eating contest, but for data.

Of course, not every degen is ready to celebrate. Skeptics are quick to whisper that Solana's juicy transaction count is a buffet padded with validator "vote" traffic and the relentless, mindless churn of arbitrage bots and other automated actors. One critic essentially asked for a "bot-free" calorie count, while a true believer hailed the 44% as a pure badge of honor for speed, cheap scaling, and the kind of developer love that usually requires a VC grant.

Meanwhile, over in the land of actual money, $SOL’s price action is telling a completely different, far more depressing story. The token is currently sitting at $87.81, nursing a 5.25% loss over the past 24 hours, having slid from a recent high of $93.26 down to $87.79. Its trading volume also caught a cold, dropping 13.8% to $3.76 billion amidst all the volatility, proving that high throughput doesn't automatically translate to high spirits.

A fleeting golden-cross on the hourly chart did briefly inject some hopium into the veins of traders, with $SOL managing to breach a $91 resistance level and sporting a 3-to-1 long-to-short ratio that hinted at a potential rebound. Yet, despite all the transactional fireworks on-chain, the price still hasn't gotten the memo, remaining about as exciting as a stale bag of chips next to a gourmet meal.
