Oracle Meets Washington: Chainlink and Anchorage Anchor New Crypto PAC Ahead of Midterms

The 2024 presidential election may be in the books, but the political grind never stops. With midterm elections now just seven months out, crypto giants are already flexing their lobbying muscles—because nothing says "democracy" quite like a bunch of protocol developers trying to influence congressional term limits from their command centers.

Chainlink Labs and Anchorage Digital have joined the founding members of a political action committee called the "Blockchain Leadership Fund" (BLF). The group will operate as a "hybrid PAC," allowing for both direct candidate contributions and independent election spending like advertising. Neither company disclosed how much they're putting in. Classic. It's like asking someone how much they spent on their home gym—some things are just too personal to share, especially when you're trying to own the libs.

The timing is no coincidence. The November 3rd midterms will determine which party controls the House and Senate, and the results could directly shape crypto legislation—including the stablecoin bill "GENIUS" and the market structure law "CLARITY." For those keeping score at home, that's two acronyms that sound like they were generated by an AI that only reads congressional press releases.

Chainlink Labs says the industry needs organized support for candidates who back the CLARITY Act. Anchorage co-founder and CEO Nathan McCauley put it plainly: "2026 will be a crucial year for cryptocurrency regulation. The choices we make now will shape the industry and American financial leadership for decades to come." Nothing like a good old-fashioned existential warning to get the grassroots excited.
