Magic Eden Wallet Pulls the Plug: Export Your Seeds Before April Fools' Gets Real

Magic Eden is shutting down its native wallet, because nothing says "we're pivoting" quite like gently nudging users toward the exit with a polite "please move your assets, kthxbye." Starting April 1, the wallet enters export-only mode—meaning you can extract your private keys, but you can't do much else. No new transactions. No recovery. No downloads. Just exit, only exit. April Fools' jokes aside, this is the real deal.

The wallet will be yanked from all app stores faster than a rug pull at a DAO meeting, and the fully loaded version won't be recoverable once May 1 hits. Users are being urged—politely but firmly—to export their keys ASAP and not, under any circumstances, delete the app. Delete it and your keys vanish into the digital ether. Assets remain safe as long as you've got that seed phrase stored somewhere secure. Paper wallets: not just for Christmas anymore.

Magic Eden also killed its EVM and Bitcoin wallets. If you had funds stashed there, you needed to withdraw by March 27 or hit up support to claim whatever was left. After that deadline? Womp womp. Any remaining assets can still be sent out before April 1, or users can import their keys into a different wallet. Time to play musical chairs with your keys.

The writing was on the wall—or maybe scrawled in sharpie on a whiteboard in some pivot-themed strategy session. Magic Eden pivoted at the end of February, moving away from its NFT marketplace roots toward shinier trends—specifically Dicey, the crypto casino and sportsbook platform. In March, they axed their Ethereum and Bitcoin marketplaces entirely, draining liquidity from Bitcoin ordinals and NFT collections like a vampire at a blood bank. The Bitcoin API officially died on March 27.

But NFTs aren't totally dead here. Crypto Punks are still pulling in sales up to 31 ETH—because apparently some degens still believe in JPEGs. Magic Eden still runs a Solana NFT marketplace, plus Solana Packs and Solana Lucky Buy. Solana collectibles and Pokémon packs remain in the mix. The dream is alive, just… shifted slightly to the left.

As for the ME token—it's still the heart of the reward system, beating weakly at $0.
