Bitcoin Yawns at 'Civilization Death' Deadline, Sticks to $68K Comfort Zone
Bitcoin lounged around $68,300 at Tuesday's Wall Street open like a cat that just heard thunder—barely lifted its head. Markets gave a collective shrug at fresh US-Iran war rhetoric mere hours before Trump's deadline came and went, because apparently "civilization death" is just another Tuesday in crypto Twitter.
The 200-week exponential moving average held steady as BTC/USD tried its best to ignore President Trump's Truth Social post ominously declaring "a whole civilization will die tonight" before his 8pm Eastern deadline for an Iran deal. The post also dropped news of strikes on Iranian oil infrastructure at Kharg Island, though details remained sketchier than a DeFi whitepaper.
Despite the apocalyptic language worthy of a maxed-out doomer account, US stocks refused to crash dramatically. "Markets have become numb to the headlines," observed trading resource The Kobeissi Letter on X, probably while sipping coffee and watching volatility die in real-time.
QCP Capital spotted the pattern that's been playing on repeat like a broken record: "After several weeks of weekend escalation rhetoric followed by early-week de-escalation signals, markets are beginning to recognise and fade this pattern." In other words, traders have learned to tune out the noise until someone actually lights the fuse.
WTI crude oil pushed past $116 per barrel, creeping toward multiyear highs like it's trying to become the most interesting asset in the room while Bitcoin naps.
Crypto trader Michaël Van de Poppe suggested an inflection point looms with the gravitas of someone who's seen too many head-and-shoulders: "From a technical standpoint, it's more likely that markets are turning downwards as the trend is clearly in that direction."
Trader LP flagged resistance at $71-72K, noting sell pressure is "capping price if it persists" after buy pressure between $63-66K drove the recent move toward $70K. Translation: bulls tried their best, but the ceiling has a name now.
