SOL's Holder Count Hits 167M strong—Too Bad the Price Didn't Get the Invitation

By our Markets Desk3 min read

Solana degens have been stacking bags like there's no tomorrow—or perhaps because they suspect there might not be—and pushed SOL holders to a record-breaking 166.9 million. Token Terminal data confirms this glorious milestone, cementing SOL as the fourth-largest held L1 token, trailing only the holy trinity of Binance, Ethereum, and Tron. At the close of 2025, SOL boasted 154.2 million unique holders, meaning Q1 2026 has already delivered an 8.2% expansion. Apparently, even a crypto bloodbath wasn't enough to scare these diamond-handed believers away from their favorite chain. The irony? They're holding more SOL than ever while watching the price act like it's on a permanent vacation to value town.

Since October's spectacular crash, SOL's price has done a stunning impression of a falling knife, plummeting from $224 to $84—a brutal 63% drawdown that would have sent weaker hands screaming for the exit. But here's where it gets weird.

While the price was getting absolutely demolished, token holders decided to go the opposite direction like they were on a different planet entirely. Holders surged 12% from 148.9 million all the way to that shiny new all-time high of 166.9 million. This should theoretically be a bullish signal, but the price charts tell a different story—one where outflows are about as enthusiastic as a Tuesday morning meeting. The charts are giving nothing, absolutely nothing, in terms of selling pressure relief.

One of the most reliable ways to measure whether SOL degens are actually putting their money where their mouth is involves the Realized Cap, which tracks capital inflows into the asset. Since last October, this metric has done a faceplant from a record $96.9 billion all the way down to $78.5 billion—a gut-wrenching $18.2 billion in capital that's fled the building. While Realized Cap is about as forward-looking as a rearview mirror, historical bounces from similar levels have marked both local and cycle bottoms, typically followed by sustained rallies that had everyone suddenly bullish again. At press time, however, the metric was still waiting to print a reversal signal, even as SOL tried to consolidate its recent losses in the $75-$93 range. The market's basically saying, "We love the holders, but we're not exactly throwing money at the screen."

Translation: despite having more holders than a Taylor Swift concert, capital inflows haven't been strong enough to move the price. But hey, it's not all doom and gloom. According to CoinShares, Solana and XRP dominated last week's altcoin inflows, with SOL pulling in $34.9 million—which sounds solid until you notice XRP casually walked away with $120 million, leaving SOL in the dust with a nearly 4x gap. If the markets keep showering XRP with four times the love, the former might just stage a more impressive comeback than our favorite memecoin chain.

Meanwhile, SOL decided to flex with an approximately 7% surge, climbing from $78 to $87 after the Iran ceasefire gave the broader market permission to stop sweating. If buyers keep showing up this weekend, the mid-$85 range could be reclaimed, potentially opening the door to that juicy range high of $90-$93—a tantalizing 9% from current levels. Then again, if momentum decides to ghost us entirely, SOL could easily tumble back down to $77 and remind everyone why they're still emotionally scarred from October.
