Morgan Stanley's Bitcoin ETF Shows Up to the Party with $34M Opening Day Haul
Morgan Stanley's spot bitcoin ETF started trading Wednesday, and it wasn't a quiet entrance. The fund, trading under the ticker MSBT, logged over 1.6 million shares traded and pulled in roughly $34 million in inflows on day one.
MSBT tracks the CoinDesk Bitcoin Benchmark 4 PM New York Settlement Rate and comes with a 0.14% expense ratio — the cheapest in the category, giving it a clear pricing edge over competitors.
But where MSBT really differs from the pack is distribution. Morgan Stanley's wealth management arm manages trillions in client assets and runs one of the largest financial advisor networks in the business. That kind of reach could help the fund pick up traction as more investors get their bitcoin exposure through advisors rather than trading platforms directly.
Tuesday's numbers give an early read on demand. Whether MSBT can keep the momentum going in a market dominated by a few big players remains to be seen.
