Iran Cries Foul on US Deal Before Talks Even Start — BTC Yawns With Casual 0.65% Dip

By our Markets Desk2 min read

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf hopped on X to drop the news that the 10-point proposal meant to anchor US-Iran negotiations has already been violated. Ghalibaf claims three out of ten points have been broken before the talks could even get their feet off the ground, making any ceasefire or negotiation "illogical" under current circumstances. Apparently, some people really know how to kill a vibe before the party starts.

The 10-point framework covers the scope of a potential ceasefire, sanctions relief, cessation of regional conflicts, and recognition of Iran's nuclear program rights. US President Trump had previously called it a "viable basis for negotiations." Think of it as a prenup for geopolitical drama—comprehensive, optimistic, and apparently destined for complications.

The specific violations cited include failure to honor ceasefire commitments across all regions—particularly Lebanon—Iranian airspace violations, and denial of the country's uranium enrichment rights. The Iranian government claims these developments have further eroded trust between the parties. Nothing says "let's work together" quite like accusing the other side of breaking promises before you've even exchanged business cards.

Markets responded to the geopolitical drama with varying degrees of enthusiasm. Bitcoin dipped approximately 0.65% following Ghalibaf's statement, while S&P 500 futures climbed 2.4%. WTI crude oil futures, despite narrowing losses, remained down over 15%. It seems like old money is buying the dip on peace negotiations while Bitcoin just shrugs and checks its chart for the 47th time today.

Apparently, even crypto markets couldn't work up much energy over a dispute that's been brewing longer than most DeFi protocols have existed. At this point, geopolitical tension announcements might as well come with a notification: "This just in: countries disagree. Bitcoin unmoved. More at eleven."
