Burn, Mint, Repeat: Ripple's RLUSD Supply Yoga Adds 9.9M Fresh Tokens

Ripple just printed another 9.9 million $RLUSD tokens on Ethereum, because apparently even stablecoins can't resist the irresistible urge to hit the gym. The minting follows a period of token burns, because in crypto, supply management is basically yoga for your ledger—sometimes you stretch up, sometimes you fold down.

$RLUSD is Ripple's dollar-backed stablecoin, operating across both Ethereum and the $XRP Ledger like some kind of blockchain dual-citizen. All tokens are backed 1:1 by U.S. dollar reserves and equivalents held in regulated accounts, because nothing says "trust us" quite like regulatory compliance and a spreadsheet.

The minting was triggered by growing requests from crypto exchanges, financial institutions, and individual traders—essentially everyone decided they wanted more of this stable life. Ripple issues new tokens through its Treasury smart contract, ensuring every mint is fully matched by assets in custody, because printing money without collateral is so 2021.

"Minting happens when there is increased demand for $RLUSD," a Ripple spokesperson explained, probably while sipping coffee and checking Slack. "These tokens are fully backed by cash and equivalents, which are kept in safeguarded accounts." Classic treasury moves, nothing to see here.

Expansion has continued with integrations across major platforms. $RLUSD is now available for trading on exchanges like Bitrue, paired with asset-backed tokens such as PAXG and XAUT—because if you're going to be stable, you might as well hang out with other responsible adults. Binance has also listed $RLUSD on the $XRP Ledger, enabling more users to access the asset, because Binance loves being everywhere there are users.

Recent data shows $RLUSD reserves currently surpass its circulating supply, indicating strong asset backing. Ripple launched $RLUSD in December 2024, targeting institutional and retail participants seeking stable digital dollar access for trading, settlement, and payments—basically everyone who wants the crypto experience without the volatility rollercoaster.

Strategic burns and new issuance remain central to keeping $RLUSD's supply aligned with market needs, with ongoing adjustments ensuring liquidity as the ecosystem evolves. It's basically supply and demand doing the tango, and so far nobody has stepped on any toes.
