Buckle Up: MON's Bullish Breakout Bid Faces Its First Real Test

By our Markets Desk3 min read

Monad [MON] is showing off like it just got airdropped luxury watches, posting a 13% gain over the past day and cementing itself among the market's top performers. But the real test lies ahead—a resistance block standing between MON and its all-time high aspirations. Can the bulls break through, or will this rally run out of fuel like a DeFi project that promised 10,000% APY?

The accumulation data tells a compelling story. The Accumulation/Distribution indicator keeps trending higher, meaning price increases are being met with continued buying. That's whale language for "we're not selling"—or at least "we're not selling yet, ask me again after my second yacht."

Trading volume has also strengthened, exceeding $2.69 billion over the past day. That's a lot of volume. Like, "did someone accidentally list their life savings" levels of trading action.

But accumulation alone doesn't paint the full picture. The Money Flow Index (MFI) is holding slightly above the 80 level with an upward trajectory, signaling that capital keeps flowing in. Smart money is positioning for further upside—because when you're smart money, you're always positioning for something.

Here's the wrinkle, though. The Bollinger Bands have pushed MON into overbought territory, with price now above the upper band. This suggests buying pressure might start wheezing, potentially triggering a pullback toward lower levels—not necessarily a reversal, but definitely a "hold on there, cowboy" moment. Think of it as MON needing to catch its breath before the next sprint.

This aligns with the resistance zone sitting on the chart like an uninvited guest at a house party. If bears use this overbought signal to push back, MON could form lower lows or enter a ranging phase. The latter becomes more likely if accumulation continues building—and by building, we mean whales quietly stacking like they're preparing for the apocalypse.

On the flip side, a successful breakout would dramatically strengthen MON's structure. Fewer supply zones overhead means smoother sailing toward higher ground. Less resistance, more existence-breaking gains. The dream, really.

Reaching a new all-time high from current levels requires approximately 56% upside. At a current market cap of $1.52 billion, that's roughly $851 million in additional capital needed to push total valuation toward $2.37 billion. That's pocket change in crypto terms, right? Right? ...Hello?

For this scenario to play out, multiple factors must align: spot accumulation staying robust, perpetual futures supporting long positions, and broader crypto sentiment either turning bullish or at least taking a nap from its bearish slumber
