ALGO's Bollinger Bands Scream 'Nah, Still Overpriced'—Another 10% SlapIncoming?

By our Markets Desk2 min read

Algorand [$ALGO] just face-planted 10% in the last 24 hours, and the charts are suggesting the floor might still be a few floors down.

Bollinger Bands—those trusty chart lines that basically yell "this asset is getting greedy at the all-you-can-eat buffet"—have flagged $ALGO as officially overpriced. Price got firmly rejected at the upper band yesterday, the chart equivalent of being told to move along, and got shoved back toward the exit. Usually these rejections send price crawling back to the middle band, that comfortable middle-child zone. But $ALGO hasn't even gotten within sight of it yet.

The scenic route from the current price of $0.677 down to that middle band? About 10% of scenic downside waiting patiently.

Adding extra gasoline to the bearish campfire, the Average Directional Index (ADX) is climbing as price takes a nosedive. When ADX goes up while price goes down, that's the downtrend showing off its gains and absolutely refusing to hit the gym.

On the derivatives floor, perpetual traders are loading up the short bus. Over $6.5 million has ghosted $ALGO's perpetual contracts in the past day as the broader market cycle throws a tantrum. The Open Interest Weighted Funding Rate tanked from 0.0073% to 0.0027% in just 24 hours—a neon sign saying "shorts are having a moment." Traders are essentially filing formal complaints: "Yeah, we believe this thing goes lower."

But here's the spicy plot twist nobody asked for: spot buyers are sitting this panic out. They've been treating this dip like it's Black Friday at a designer store. In the last 24 hours alone, spot investors grabbed nearly $496,000 worth of $ALGO. Over the past week? A cool $1.98 million in aggressive buying, roughly $396,000 daily like clockwork.

So while perpetual traders are basically living their bearish fan fiction, spot buyers are quietly hoarding
