Florida Attorney General Puts ChatGPT on Notice, Because Why Not

Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier has launched an investigation into OpenAI and its beloved chatbot ChatGPT, basically treating AI like a slightly sus DeFi protocol that needs a regulatory audit.

The AG raised concerns about AI safety and alleged that the company has been mishandling its data—possibly allowing it to fall into the wrong hands, which in crypto terms means your private keys are basically sitting on a Discord server with 12,000 members.

Because apparently Florida has decided that Silicon Valley's robot overlords also need to know what it's like to receive official letters from the Sunshine State, where the sun isn't the only thing that's been cooking people's brains lately.

No timeline for the investigation has been announced, but we're guessing OpenAI's lawyers are already warming up their finest "thanks for your concern, please drink verification" emails, probably while wondering if this counts as a rug pull on their reputation.
