xAI Sues Colorado Over AI Rules That Would Apparently Make Grok Less 'Based'

Elon Musk's AI venture xAI has dropped another legal grenade, this time targeting Colorado and its Senate Bill 24-205, which aims to stamp out "algorithmic discrimination" in employment, housing, and finance. Because apparently, nothing says "disruption" like suing states that want AI to stop ghosting qualified candidates and denying mortgages based on vibes. The lawsuit, filed with all the subtlety of a crypto bro at a family dinner, argues the law would cramp Grok's style by forcing it to alter responses in ways that conflict with its stated mission of being "maximally truth seeking." You know, the same Grok that sometimes answers questions with the energy of someone who had too much pre-workout and read too much Twitter at 3 AM. xAI is essentially arguing Colorado can't "alter xAI's message simply because it wants to amplify its own views on the highly politicized subjects of fairness and equity." Translation: regulators bad, free thought good, please let our robot say controversial things. The law is scheduled to take effect June 30, which gives everyone involved just enough time to panic appropriately. This lawsuit marks xAI's second state-level legal adventure, following its December spectacle against California's Generative AI Training Data Transparency Act, which raised First and Fifth Amendment objections. Apparently xAI really wants to collect all 50 state lawsuit participation NFTs. White House AI czar David Sacks has emerged as an unlikely ally, advocating for federal preemption to stamp out what he called the current "patchwork" regulatory landscape that allegedly burdens innovators. Because nothing says "innovation-friendly" like asking the federal government to tell states what they can and can't regulate. xAI's legal dream team is now pushing to block enforcement of the Colorado legislation, presumably while Grok continues its truth-seeking mission from behind the legal barricades.
