Hoskinson to XRP Maxis: My Vibes Are Optional, But My Blockchain Isn't
Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson has once again inserted himself into the crypto drama Olympics—this time squaring off against an XRP supporter who apparently thinks Twitter beef is bad for enterprise adoption. The dispute kicked off when Hoskinson shared a satirical video taking jabs at his legion of online critics. An XRP maximalist bit hard, suggesting that companies might swipe left on Cardano partnerships because Hoskinson's social media game is a bit... loud. The critic even tossed in some unflattering comparisons to Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse, painting him as the zen master of corporate communication.
The Cardano founder's rebuttal was pure Charles energy: "I know it's hard to understand coming from the $XRP side, but Cardano != Charles. We have this thing called decentralization and it means that choosing Cardano doesn't require liking, agreeing, or endorsing me." Classic pivot from "my blockchain is my baby" to "actually I'm just the weird uncle who shows up at family reunions."
Hoskinson continues to stan for the separation-of-artist-and-art argument, insisting that serious organizations shopping for a blockchain evaluate tech stacks, infrastructure, and ecosystem maturity—not whether they'd enjoy getting lunch with the founder. It's a reasonable point, though one might note that Hoskinson's weekly update streams, Reddit deep dives, and apparent inability to ignore random critics online do make the "don't judge my chain by my tweets" defense feel like a fresh coat of paint on a burning house.
Garlinghouse, meanwhile, apparently subscribes to a different school of founder relations. The Ripple CEO mostly reserves his online sparring for high-profile targets, recently locking horns with Avalanche's Emin Gün Sirer. XRP believers tend to view this restraint as the professional, institutional-friendly approach. Garlinghouse probably doesn't read the replies, which is either shrewd branding or just good social media hygiene.
This latest scuffle is really just the newest episode in a rivalry that really got cooking during the Ripple vs. SEC courtroom saga. Hoskinson's dismissive reference to certain community theories as "conspiracy" back then really rustled the jimmies of XRP holders who felt personally targeted by the Cardano chief. After over a year of friction, Hoskinson eventually extended an olive branch, even including XRP fans in the Midnight airdrop and casually floating ideas for XRP-based DeFi collabs. Apparently those peace offerings didn't fully patch things up. Crypto watchers are now left wondering if this particular grudge match will ever actually de-escalate—or if it's just permanently programmed into both communities' group chats.
