RIP QC FUD: Samson Mow Writes Another FUD Autopsy Report, Bitcoin Defenses Moving 'Incredibly Fast'

JAN3 CEO Samson Mow has returned for another thrilling installment of "FUD Fighter," this time taking a scalpel to quantum computing concerns with the confidence of someone who's seen Bitcoin survive roughly 437 "final death" predictions and counting.

The Bitcoin maximalist makes the case that while doom-sayers insist quantum computers will eventually snap BTC's cryptography like a wet toothpick, the knights in shining armor are already storming the castle. Mow highlighted Quantum Safe Bitcoin (QSB), a proposal suggesting quantum-resistant transactions through a hash-to-signature puzzle leaning on RIPEMD-160 preimage resistance rather than those pesky ECDSA signatures that everyone's suddenly worried about.

"Bitcoin defenses against non-existent quantum computers is moving along at an incredibly fast pace. There's also the prototype from @roasbeef too. RIP QC FUD. 🪦" Mow tweeted, clearly enjoying himself immensely.

The Lightning Labs CTO's proof-of-concept deploys zk-STARK proofs to enable wallet recovery for BIP-32-derived keys—because nothing screams "we're totally not sweating this threat" quite like building military-grade solutions preemptively, kind of like installing a bulletproof vest before entering a枪展.

In October 2025, Capriole Investments head Charles Edwards speculated quantum computers might require approximately 700 usable qubits to break Bitcoin's elliptic curve signatures within two to three years. Google researchers recently announced a quantum contraption could theoretically expose private keys in nine minutes—just slightly faster than Bitcoin's 10-minute block window, for those keeping score at home.

Nevertheless, the cryptoverse remains characteristically unimpressed. Online, degens were quick to note that Bitcoin has weathered every "it's donezo" declaration since 2011
