XRP's Golden Cross Shows Up, But the Party's Still Winding Down

By our Markets Desk2 min read

XRP, the fourth largest cryptocurrency by market cap, has completed a golden cross on its short-term charts. The 50 MA rose above the 200 MA on the two-hour chart. However, traders aren't exactly popping champagne just yet. Spoiler: they're too busy staring at their portfolios and weeping softly.

The timing of this bullish signal has the crypto crowd raising eyebrows. Weak spot demand and softer futures activity suggest any potential recovery lacks strong conviction. It's giving "dip buying because we're bored" rather than "dip buying because we actually believe." That said, there's a small win: ETF flows are turning modestly positive. XRP ETFs saw $9.9 million in inflows on April 10, the largest since early February, per SoSoValue data. Someone's finally buying the dip. Congrats to that someone.

But the broader picture remains... subdued. Santiment reported that average wallets active on the XRP Ledger over the past year are down an average of 41% on their investments. That's the lowest MVRV for XRP traders since the FTX crash in November 2022. Ouch. For those keeping score at home, that's the financial equivalent of getting kicked while already lying down.

So, breakout or fakeout? XRP's price is attempting to stabilize after a sharp move to $1.396 earlier in the week. The short-term golden cross is noteworthy, but the lack of follow-through and weak structure tell a story of cautious sentiment. The price couldn't break above the daily MA 50 at $1.38, which has capped XRP since late March. Bears are guarding that level hard. Like, really hard. They got nowhere else to be.

On the bright side, tight range trading near current levels shows buyers are at least trying to build a support base. Traders are watching $1.29 as the next short-term support, $1.38 (daily MA 50) as the resistance for a meaningful breakout, and $1.28 as the level below which this whole thing gets called a failed breakout. Place your bets, degens. Stay tuned.
