Justin Sun Claims WLFI's 'Financial Freedom' Came With a Hidden Blacklist: 'A Trap Disguised as a Door'
Justin Sun is not holding back. The crypto veteran has launched a scathing attack on World Liberty Financial ($WLFI), claiming the project pulled a fast one on investors with a secret blacklist baked into its smart contract. Spoiler: turns out "financial freedom" might have been doing the most.
Sun says he was an early believer in $WLFI, backing the project because it claimed to champion financial freedom, cut out intermediaries, and bring DeFi to the masses. Classic crypto utopia stuff. But here's the twist: Sun alleges a critical detail was buried from him and other investors during the pitch. Nothing says "trustless" like finding out there's a backdoor you didn't sign up for.
According to Sun, $WLFI's token contract allegedly contains a hidden 'blacklist' mechanism that gives the team unilateral power to freeze, restrict, or essentially seize user wallets and assets. He called it 'the complete opposite of decentralization' and described the structure as 'a trap disguised as a door.' Imagine selling people a key to the bank and then keeping the only copy of the vault code.
Sun also dropped another bombshell: he claims his own wallet containing $WLFI tokens got blacklisted in 2025, calling it a violation of investor rights. He accused the project of collecting fees, establishing secret control over assets, and freezing funds without any transparent process – none of which, he argues, went through fair community governance. Nothing like finding out the "community" was just a decorative detail.
As for the management votes? Sun claims critical info was withheld from investors, participation was limited, and the results may have been pre-baked. When DAO governance feels more like a rubber stamp than a democracy, you know something's rotten in the state of DeFi.
Sun says he's got zero connection to any of this and he's calling on the $WLFI team to unlock tokens transparently and rebuild community trust. Bold strategy, Cotton. Let's see if it plays out.
