Fireblocks Lets Institutions Finally Stop Letting Stablecoins Nap

By our DeFi Desk2 min read

Fireblocks just dropped Earn, a new product that lets institutions stop watching idle stablecoin balances like a cat watching a laser pointer and actually route that capital into onchain lending through Aave and Morpho. Because apparently, even crypto whales get existential watching their money just... exist.

The feature hits Early Access with a Sentora-curated vault on Morpho plus direct access to Aave's lending markets. No fixed yields were mentioned—because DeFi doesn't do promises, it does vibes and variable APYs that could technically decide to take a vacation to zero. Plot twist!

Fireblocks claims it handled $6 trillion in stablecoin transfers during 2025 across 2,400 institutional clients—a 300% year-over-year spike. That's a staggering amount of coins just vibing between settlement windows, probably passive-aggressively judging their owners.

CEO Michael Shaulov spun it as a productivity upgrade: institutions can now deploy idle capital through onchain strategies curated by other institutions, all within the same platform they already use. Same controls, same security, just fewer awkward silences in boardrooms when someone asks "so what are we doing with the stablecoins again?"

Aave remains the undisputed king of decentralized lending with $25.9 billion in TVL, while Morpho sits comfortably at $7.67 billion, according to DeFiLlama. The launch puts Fireblocks in a cozy little club with other institutional yield gateways: Aave Horizon, Coinbase Prime, and Spark Institutional Lending.

In a "we're definitely adults now" flex, Fireblocks has been stacking enterprise tools like a crypto bear market stacks red candles: partnering on a NYDFS-backed custody framework in October 2025, then dropping $130 million to acquire tax-compliant accounting platform TRES in January 2026. Because nothing screams institutional maturity quite like compliance documentation and depreciation schedules.
