WLFI Tells Justin Sun 'See You in Court, Pal' Over $75M DeFi Loan Spat
The beef between WLFI and Justin Sun just went from passive-aggressive Twitter posts to full courtroom energy, as the Donald Trump-linked project decided that friendly disagreements about DeFi loans weren't quite spicy enough. The two sides have been throwing verbal haymakers for a while now, but this latest development suggests someone might actually have to put on pants and show up somewhere.
"Does anyone still believe @justinsuntron?" WLFI wrote on X. "We have the contracts. We have the evidence. We have the truth. See you in court pal." Nothing says "we're totally zen about this" like threatening to see someone in court while calling them "pal" like you're about to fight behind the school gym.
The legal threat came after Sun accused the $WLFI team of treating its users as personal ATMs after the project deposited 5 billion $WLFI tokens as collateral on the DeFi lending platform Dolomite to borrow about $75 million in stablecoins. That's a lot of zeros, and apparently also a lot of hubris, because someone thought 5 billion tokens as collateral was a solid plan when the token had been live for approximately five minutes.
"Every action taken by the $WLFI team to extract fees from users and to treat the crypto community as a personal ATM is illegitimate," Sun wrote on Sunday. Bold words from someone who once described himself as a "crypto entrepreneur" in what might have been the most generous LinkedIn bio ever written.
In September, Sun's $WLFI tokens were frozen after the project alleged the Tron founder attempted to sell the tokens to cash out early. Sun denied the allegations, and on-chain data backs him up. So the blockchain says Sun didn't actually sell, which should be the end of the story, but in crypto, being technically innocent has never stopped a good Twitter pile-on.
