XRP FUD Hits 'Third-Highest Ever'—And Apparently That's the Bullish Signal Nobody Wanted

By our Markets Desk2 min read

$XRP has shed more than 60% from its peak during the crypto bear market. Unsurprisingly, investor sentiment has tagged along for the ride, with social fear around $XRP hitting its third highest level in the past two years. Because nothing says "community" like everyone panicking in unison.

Crypto analysis platform Santiment, in a post on X, flagged that the FUD (fear, uncertainty, and doubt) surrounding $XRP has climbed to notable heights. But here's where it gets spicy—and by spicy we mean the kind of spicy that makes degens rub their hands together.

Santiment noted that historical patterns suggest a potential short-term rebound could be brewing. When pessimistic outlooks overshadow optimism, associated crypto prices tend to move contrary to public sentiment. It's almost like the market enjoys doing the opposite of what Twitter decides is obvious.

Translation: more FUD, higher odds of recovery. The crowd is always wrong until suddenly they're right, and then they're wrong again.

The data shows that after a 63% decline over the last nine months, retail investors are heading for the exits. Santiment suggests patient buyers might view this bearish backdrop as a potential bottom-catching opportunity. "Patient" in crypto time means somewhere between "holding through three haircuts" and "forgot I owned this."

Of course, sustainability remains the million-sats question. Recovery prospects will likely hinge on supply and demand dynamics, macroeconomic developments, and broader market conditions. So, basically, good luck predicting anything with confidence.

"According to weekly social media data for $XRP, FUD has reached its third highest level in the last two years," Santiment noted. "Historically, the likelihood of a relief rally increases significantly when bullish commentary is replaced by highly bearish commentary. Prices are moving in the exact opposite direction of what the crowd expected." Classic case of everyone being early to the exit and late to the party.
