Doctor Doom Calls the Top on His Own Doomerism: AI to Keep Pumping Economy for 20 Years

By our Markets Desk2 min read

Nouriel Roubini, the man who literally has a Wikipedia article titled "Doctor Doom" for calling the 2008 financial crisis, has apparently touched grass and gone full bull mode on the global economy. The man who made permabears weep with joy is now serving up hopium stronger than a DeFi influencer on launch day.

Speaking at the Greenwich Economic Forum in Hong Kong, Roubini dropped his latest alpha: AI will pump markets for the next 10 to 20 years—no bubble, no hype, just vibes and sweet productivity gains. Yes, the same Roubini who spent years warning about every possible apocalypse is now telling us to buy the dip and chill.

The economist is now forecasting US growth hitting 4% annually by 2030, climbing to 6% by 2040, and reaching an eye-watering 10% by 2050—all thanks to AI and semiconductors. For reference, that's the kind of gains that would make even the most degenerate trader close their leveraged positions and touch grass.

"I think, eventually, technology dominates over the medium term," Roubini said, apparently unbothered by the fact that geopolitical turbulence, climate chaos, and populism are currently trending on every doomer's Twitter timeline. To him, it's all just background noise—like reading Discord F
