XRPL Foundation Teases XRP Native Privacy as Zcash Bug Dumps 46%
XRPL Foundation community lead Vet pulled the classic "drop news while your competitor is on fire" move by teasing amendment XLS-0096, which would bring native privacy to the $XRP Ledger. The timing lined up neatly with a brutal week for Zcash: a critical bug in the Orchard pool, unnoticed since May 2022, sent $ZEC down 46% in a single day as fears of hidden inflation triggered a full capitulation. Even Arthur Hayes fully liquidated his $ZEC position.
While the Zcash team scrambles to hire cryptographers, build a new pool, and manually recount coins, the $XRP Ledger is pitching what its authors call a fundamentally new standard of confidentiality. The essence of amendment XLS-0096, Confidential Transfers for MPT, is a transition from blind anonymity to verifiable confidentiality, per the proposal.

Per the proposal, RippleX architects built the hybrid standard on advanced EC-ElGamal homomorphic encryption and zero-knowledge proofs (ZKP), with these notable features:
- Mathematical transparency of issuance: User balances and transaction
