Internet Computer Approaches 300 Billion Transactions as ICP Slips
Internet Computer is closing in on a major network milestone, having processed approximately 289 billion transactions since launch, according to data shared by Chainspect. The cumulative count leaves the blockchain less than 11 billion transactions shy of the 300 billion mark, with real-time throughput reported at 2,536 transactions per second. The throughput figure was published alongside the cumulative transaction count as part of the platform's network monitoring metrics, and Chainspect also reported real-time transaction processing speeds of 2,536 transactions per second at the same time. Some market participants are now viewing the transaction milestone as a possible narrative catalyst, particularly if broader crypto conditions remain supportive. The activity, in other words, is moving along at a brisk clip regardless of what the price tape suggests.
Following the release of the figures, several commentators highlighted the gap between the network's activity metrics and $ICP's current trading price. Decrypting Crypto noted that Internet Computer was nearing 300 billion transactions while $ICP traded around $2.26, encouraging market participants to pay attention to on-chain data. Albert also referenced the latest statistics, pointing out that the blockchain continues to process transactions while maintaining throughput above 2,500 transactions per second. He added that transaction volume and throughput represent one aspect of network performance, while user adoption, developer participation, and token demand remain separate measures — a polite way of saying the chart and the fundamentals are, once again, having a quiet disagreement.
While attention centered on network activity, the $ICP token traded lower over the previous 24 hours. According to CoinMarketCap data, Internet Computer was trading at $2.31 at the time of reporting, down 7.47% over the preceding 24-hour period. The token recorded a 24-hour trading volume of $141.48 million, and CoinMarketCap ranked Internet Computer as the 50th-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization, with a market value of approximately $1.28 billion.
